This is Ghar-e-Hira, one of the most important historical places in Islam. It is located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, about 3 km from the Kaaba. Here is a brief history:

• The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) often worshiped, performed I’tikaf and prayed in this cave.
• In 610 CE, at the age of 40, the first revelation from God to Prophet Muhammad was revealed to him by Jibril (Gabriel) in this cave.
• This event was the beginning of the Prophethood of Muhammad and the revelation of the Qur’an to him.
