BYD Pakistan, a joint venture between China’s BYD and Mega Motors, projects that electric vehicles (EVs) will account for 50% of auto sales in Pakistan by 2030.
BYD Company, which entered the Pakistani market last month, plans to introduce EVs later this year and open an assembly plant by early 2026.
Despite the ambitious target, 50% EV adoption may be very difficult due to infrastructure issues.
BYD Pakistan is working with oil companies to set up 20-30 charging stations and aims to focus on locally assembled vehicles to overcome import duty challenges.
Now it is to be seen how Pakistan works with this project.
